This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Baltimore Ravens (5-2) and Cleveland Browns (1-6) will kick off the Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 8. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET from Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. The game will be broadcast on CBS and can be streamed on platforms like Paramount+ and YouTube TV.

The Ravens are consensus 8.5-point favorites over the Browns (Ravens -8.5) with the game total set at 44.5. Baltimore is -450 on the moneyline to win outright, while Cleveland is +350 to pull off the upset.

The Ravens won 41-31 over the Buccaneers last week, their fifth straight win. Lamar Jackson is the favorite the repeat as NFL MVP with 15 touchdowns and 2 interceptions through 7 games this season, as well as 455 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. The Browns lost 21-14 last week to the Bengals, their fifth straight loss. Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles in the defeat, so Jameis Winston appears likely to take over as the starting quarterback.

Let's get into my Ravens vs. Browns prediction and my NFL picks for Week 8.

Ravens vs. Browns Prediction

My Browns vs. Ravens best bet is on Cleveland. For all of your NFL bets, be sure to find the best lines by using our live NFL odds page.

My pick: Browns +8.5

Spread

Moving from Deshaun Watson to Jameis Winston is a huge boost for the Browns offense, and I think now is the time to finally bet Cleveland. The Ravens are coming off a short week, and it's going to be a new-look Cleveland offense.

I'm taking the points and betting on the Browns.

Moneyline

I'm not betting the Browns to win the game. I'd rather take the points with Cleveland.

Over/Under

I'm not betting this game's total.

Ravens vs. Browns NFL Week 8 Preview

I think the market is finally underrating the Browns without Deshaun Watson, who was finally efficient last week before tearing his Achilles. He has been a huge liability, though.

The Browns got right tackle Jack Conklin back a couple of weeks ago and finally have their offensive line healthy. Pro Bowl guard Wyatt Teller was also activated to return, but whether he plays this week remains to be seen.

Of course, Cleveland got another boost last week with Nick Chubb returning to action and handling double-digit carries. His workload might increase even more this week because the Browns will need to be efficient on the ground against a stout Ravens run defense.

The real reason that Cleveland is underrated here, though, is because the passing offense could go from one of the worst ever to serviceable.

Winston is probably an upgrade over Deshaun Watson, and he certainly is over Dorian Thompson-Robinson. If you look at the 80 quarterbacks with at least 150 dropbacks since the start of the 2021 season, Thompson-Robinson ranks 77th in EPA per dropback. Winston is 21st.

In that same span, let’s expand it to 400 dropbacks. There are 53 quarterbacks who hit that threshold, and Watson ranks 50th. Winston is 16th.

I don’t think Winston is anything more than average, but he’s put up above-average EPA numbers in limited action since his infamous 30-interception season back in 2019. Also, it’s not hard to be an upgrade over Watson, who was running one of the worst passing offenses ever.

Baltimore is also coming off a short week after traveling to Tampa Bay last week for Monday Night Football. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey and wide receiver Zay Flowers were both banged up.

The Browns defense is also getting healthier with Myles Garrett and cornerback Denzel Ward off the injury report. Cleveland also got its two starting safeties back last week.

Pick: Browns +8.5
