Thursday Night Football will be a showcase of two of the top rookies in the NFL when Trevor Lawrence's Jacksonville Jaguars meet Ja'Marr Chase's Cincinnati Bengals. Early signs from the betting market show high expectations for each.
The Bengals are 7.5-point favorites with a total of 46, but the attention will be on Chase, Lawrence and Joe Burrow in the player prop market.
According to data released by BetMGM, Chase is getting the most action on touchdown props and bettors are hoping both Burrow and Lawrence find the end zone multiple times.
The back-to-back No. 1 overall draft picks each throwing at least two touchdowns is listed at +200 and is the most-bet prop so far.
Of the two, it might be tougher for Lawrence to reach that number.
The rookie has struggled through his first three games — as has the Jaguars offense as a whole.
Since throwing for 332 yards and three touchdowns in the opener against the Houston Texans, Lawrence has one touchdown each game in losses to the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals.
In a loss to Denver, Lawrence was 14-of-33 for 118 yards with two picks. He was 22-of-34 for 219 yards and two interceptions against the Cardinals, in which the Jaguars blew a first-half lead. His passing yards prop is 246.5 on Thursday.
Burrow's second season is off to a better start. He's thrown at least two touchdowns in all three games, including three last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers despite completing just 14 total passes on 18 attempts.
It would make bettors happy if Burrow threw one of those touchdowns to his former LSU teammate Chase.
The 6-foot-1 rookie receiver, who is second in the NFL with four touchdown catches, is seeing a lot of action on his touchdown props.
The second-most bet prop for Thursday's game is on Chase scoring the first touchdown of the game (+800). The third-most-popular prop bet is Chase scoring a touchdown and the Bengals winning at +130.
Chase has 11 catches this year but has made the most of them, proving to be a big-play threat early in his career. He's averaging 20 yards per catch and has scored in all three games.
It could be a big game for Chase, who finds himself highly ranked this week by one of our fantasy football experts.
