The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are moving on to the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs after upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles 32-9 on Monday.
The Buccaneers had plenty of doubters entering the season after losing quarterback Tom Brady to retirement. It appeared a team that was a consistent contender was going to enter a rebuilding phase. But the Buccaneers have shown they are still a contender without Brady after walloping the Eagles in the playoffs.
Tampa Bay was 100-1 to win the Super Bowl before the start of the season at most sportsbooks. The Buccaneers were tied for the fourth-worst Super Bowl odds of any team entering the season and now they join the Texans (200-1) as the two long shots left in the field.
The Texans and Buccaneers are the 30th and 31st teams to enter the playoffs with 100-1 odds or higher entering the season since the schedule moved to 16 games in 1978. Only 13 teams have made it past the Wild Card Round.
The only team to ever win the Super Bowl entering the season with 100-1 odds or worse was the St. Louis Rams in 1999.
The Buccaneers will face the Lions in the Divisional Round Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.
