This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Carolina Panthers (1-6) and Denver Broncos (4-3) will kick off the late Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 8. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET from Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. The game will be broadcast on CBS and can be streamed on platforms like Paramount+ or YouTube TV.

The Broncos are consensus 12.5-point favorites over the Panthers (Broncos -12.5) with the over/under currently set at 40.5 points. Denver is a -750 on the moneyline to win outright, while Carolina is +550 to pull off the upset.

The Panthers lost 40-7 last week to the Commanders. Carolina's six losses have been by an average of 24.5 points this season. The Broncos won 33-10 over the Saints last week. Bo Nix didn't have to do much with just 164 passing yards, but the Broncos ran for 225 yards as a team.

Let's get into my Panthers vs. Broncos predictions and my NFL picks for Week 8.

Panthers vs. Broncos Picks and Predictions

Prediction

My pick: Broncos 1H Team Total Over 13.5 Points (-115)

My Broncos vs. Panthers best bet is on Denver's first-half team total. For all of your NFL bets, be sure to find the best lines by using our live NFL odds page

Spread

I lean toward the Broncos here simply because the Panthers are so awful and have been blown out in every loss this season. It would make sense to lay the points with Denver if you think it will win, but I'm going to pass on the double-digit spread.

Moneyline

I'm not betting any moneylines in this game.

Over/Under

I'm backing a specific total that has easily cashed the past four weeks against the Panthers, which is their opposition's first-half team total.

My pick: Broncos 1H Team Total Over 13.5 Points (-115)

Panthers vs. Broncos NFL Week 8 Preview

This spread is a lot, and I’m not hugely interested in laying 10 points on a Bo Nix-led team — even agains the Panthers.

So far this season, Carolina has been a popular fade. The specific place I’m going to look to fade it here, though, is in the first half.

The Panthers are 1-13 against the first-half spread in their last 14 games. Specifically, their defense has been awful.

Here’s how many points the Panthers have allowed in the first half of their last four games:

  • Bengals: 21
  • Bears: 27
  • Falcons: 22
  • Commanders: 27

Now, I know what you’re thinking: This Broncos offense led by Nix is not as good as any of those. I hear you.

Nix is getting better, though, which is clear from the Broncos scoring more than 30 points in two of their last three games. This matchup against the worst team in the NFL might be where he and this offense take another step forward.

I'm very comfortable fading Bryce Young, who returns to action this week playing at altitude against the No.3-rated defense in the NFL, according to DVOA. This double-digit spread seems too much, though, and our Sean Koerner has it projected at just Broncos -9.

I'll focus on fading the Panthers in a specific way that has been hugely profitable over the past four weeks.

Pick: Broncos 1H Team Total Over 13.5 Points (-115)
