Chiefs fans, get ready to see a familiar face — Kareem Hunt is returning to Arrowhead Stadium.
With starting running back Isiah Pacheco out for 6-8 weeks with a fractured fibula, the veteran Hunt is heading back to Kansas City as NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Hunt is signing with the Chiefs' practice squad.
Hunt was waived by the Chiefs nearly six years ago after a video of him pushing and kicking a woman during an altercation surfaced.
Hunt won the rushing title as a rookie with the Chiefs in 2017, when he rushed for 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns. The former Pro Bowler spent the last five seasons with the Cleveland Browns. While splitting carries with Nick Chubb, Hunt did not have the same success as he had in Kansas City.
With Pacheco out a significant amount of time, the Chiefs only have fullback Carson Steele and running back Samaje Perine currently available to tote the rock. Perine joined the team just three weeks ago.
The Chiefs still have Clyde Edwards-Helaire. However, he is currently on the non-football illness list and won't be eligible for return until after Week 5.
Hunt will be someone to monitor for fantasy football owners as he has a path to get the bulk of the carries until Pacheco returns.
