In perhaps the best matchup in Week 15, the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers meet on Thursday Night Football with plenty at stake.
The Chiefs hold a one-game lead in the AFC West over the Chargers, but Los Angeles owns the tiebreaker with a win in Week 3 at Kansas City. The Chiefs, in the midst of a 6-game winning streak, will need to win to hold onto the top spot.
Bettors are hoping Kansas City does just that and rides tight end Travis Kelce to victory.
According to data released by BetMGM on Thursday morning, Kelce is involved in two of the three most popular prop bets for the primetime game.
Kelce to score the first touchdown of the game is the most popular bet at the sportsbook. This bet comes with +800 odds (bet $100, profit $800). He's also heavily bet to score a touchdown at any time combined with a Chiefs win at +105.
It's actually been a relatively quiet season for the pass-catcher, at least by his lofty standards. He's topped 100 yards receiving three times this year and appeared by re-breakout on Nov. 14 against the Raiders with 8 catches for 119 yards, but since then he's tallied just 74, 27 and 27 yards receiving in three games.
He's only scored in four games with three of his five touchdowns coming in the first two weeks of the year. His last touchdown was Nov. 7 against the Green Bay Packers. That happened to be the first touchdown of that game. That's the only time this season he's scored the first touchdown of the game.
In what isn't much of a surprise, bettors are expecting plenty of points between Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. The total is up to 52 from the opening number of 50.5. And one of the most popular props is both teams scoring at least 20 points in a Chiefs win at +180 odds.
The Chiefs are favored by three points with over 70% of bets on them as road favorites.
