Building a same game parlay is fun when you're debating which star player will go off.
However, in this spot for Chiefs vs. Jets on NFL Sunday Night Football, we have Kansas City, a team that has steadily proven it can score 40 without having a fantasy-relevant player. They'll be going up against the Jets and I'm going to build a same game parlay to give this game a little spark and help add to the Sunday night excitement.
Always be sure to be responsible when betting parlays — especially at long odds.
Chiefs vs. Jets Sunday Night Football Parlay (+1106; FanDuel):
- Alt Spread: Kansas City Chiefs -12.5 (+164)
- Alt Total: Under 39.5 (+116)
- Travis Kelce 50+ receiving yards (-310)
- Breece Hall Under 50.5 rushing yards (-110)
Chiefs -12.5 and Under 39.5
Pairing these picks always seems appropriate as they are both driven by my game expectations. I'm unsure how the Jets are going to move the ball against Kansas City's defense. The highest compliment I can give the Jets' offense is that they've had a couple of nice plays — not games, quarters, or halves, just plays.
Once Zach Wilson took over, teams decided to fully focus on stopping the run and that's completely stalled New York's offense. People asked how much of the Broncos' struggles last year were on Nathaniel Hackett and how much was on Russell Wilson. Well, we're seeing the Broncos' 2022 offense 2.0 with a lesser quarterback, and the ball is going nowhere slowly.
As for the Chiefs, this isn't the same Kansas City offense we are used to. The defense is stout and the offense has struggled to produce points. In games, not against Chicago, the Chiefs have scored just 20 and 17 points. However, the Chiefs have shown signs of life and gained over 300 yards in both those games.
Also, a healthier Travis Kelce could have a big impact in this game. Kelce had just returned against the Jaguars and you could see him being eased back. Against Chicago, he caught seven passes for 69 yards and looked much more like his old self. Against a stout defense like the Jets, the connection between Patrick Mahomes and Kelce will be crucial.
With that, 39.5 points seems like too many for this game. It's hard to imagine the Jets playing better than they did in their most recent two games and they scored 10 points in each of those. That means the Chiefs can score anywhere in the 23-29 range, which seems about right. New York's defense should be able to force field goals, but the Jets' offense is struggling and will give Kansas City too many possessions.
Travis Kelce 50+ receiving yards
It would be wrong to hype Kelce’s impact and then leave him off the parlay ticket. Additionally, Taylor Swift will be in attendance and cheering on her new boyfriend. He won't disappoint.
Kelce can sometimes disappear when this offense is clicking, but he always steps it up when the competition requires it. New York is a fierce defense that will do its best to make Mahomes uncomfortable. However, once a play breaks down and the scramble drill starts, there's nothing better than the Mahomes and Kelce connection.
Last year, there were just three instances where he fell short of 50 receiving yards. In each game, the Chiefs had easy other ways to move the ball. In a big spot, with his girlfriend watching, Kelce will star.
Breece Hall Under 50.5
This under is driven by just how bad the Jets have been on the ground since Aaron Rodgers's injury. Against the Cowboys, they had just 64 total yards rushing. They had just 38 against the Patriots and the worst part is that there are three running backs all competing for touches.
Hall has gained just 27 yards on 16 carries in the past two games and works best as an explosive runner. However, when teams are loading the box, the creases he needs to burst through cease to exist.
Every team will be begging Wilson and Hackett to throw. Unfortunately, that means the Jets' talented running back room will face seven or eight in the box against a weak offensive line.
Hall certainly has the talent to eclipse this number, but the opportunity to succeed won't be there.
