49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is out for Monday Night Football between the Jets and 49ers, which means his backup's prop bets exploded right after the news broke.

49ers running back Jordan Mason has seen his anytime TD odds at DraftKings move from +650 to +150 on account of McCaffrey's absence. At FanDuel, that line has dropped to +145 from as high as +700.

McCaffrey has never missed a game as a 49ers since he joined in 2022. Mason, who was drafted by the 49ers in 2022, has spent his entire career backing up the All-Pro RB. This will be the first start in his career, so the data is murky.

The 49ers are a moderately run-heavy offense when McCaffrey is at the helm. Mason, in turn, is expected to receive some highly valued touches throughout Monday Night Football.

So, it stands to reason that his touchdown prop now sits at 40% implied odds, up from its previous odds of about 12%.

Mason's rush attempts are now priced at 12.5 with an over at -130 and under at +100. His receptions total is now at 2.5 with a +140 over and -190 under — two drastically different lines than before McCaffrey's announcement. (Those odds are courtesy of BetMGM.)

This news could also spell value for the myriad 49ers skill position players, who will receive more touches on account of McCaffrey's absence. Already, 49ers tight end George Kittle, 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel and 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk have seen their odds to score a touchdown also increase.

Sean Koerner is projecting Mason for 13 rush attempts, while his total is 14.5 at DraftKings, -115 to the over and under. Nick Giffen locked that in as a bet ahead of kickoff.

Koerner also has Mason pegged for two receptions, 55 rushing yards and 12.6 receiving yards.
