The Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) and Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) will kick off the Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 2. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., on CBS, and the game can be streamed on Paramount+, YouTube TV and other streaming platforms.

The Chiefs are now consensus 6.5-point favorites over the Bengals (Chiefs -6.5) as of early Sunday afternoon, after the spread opened at Chiefs -3.5. The over/under has come back down to 47.5 points, perhaps due to the injury news that Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is officially out for the game. The Chiefs are -300 favorites to win outright, with the Bengals +240 to pull off the upset on the road.

The Bengals could not have started the season any worse than they did last week in a 16-10 loss against New England. Joe Burrow struggled, and Ja'Marr Chase failed to make an impact without Higgins on the other side of the field. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, meanwhile, picked up right where they left off with a 27-20 win over the Ravens.

Let's get into my Bengals vs. Chiefs predictions and my NFL picks and predictions for Week 2.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs NFL Week 2 Preview

Great work, Bengals, for ruining mine and everyone else's survivor pools in Week 1. In Week 2, though, we tend to back teams that didn't look very good in Week 1 as underdogs in Week 2.

Joe Burrow will be better in this one. He tends to get the Bengals' best effort when they go against the Chiefs, as well. That's really been the case since this Burrow-Mahomes duel started back in January 2022. All four games they've played against each other have been decided by three points, with the Chiefs winning one (the 2023 AFC Championship Game) and the Bengals winning three.

The Bengals always start the season slowly. The rust was definitely palpable, but the score of their loss to the Patriots was still a little bit misleading. Tanner Hudson fumbled the ball going into the end zone, Cincinnati should have intercepted Jacoby Brissett in the end zone, and a Mike Gesicki touchdown was wiped off the board when review showed the ball was briefly out of his control. I think the Bengals got a little bit unlucky in this spot.

Usually, we talk about how good Andy Reid is with extra time to prepare, and that's the case here coming off the Chiefs' Week 1 game on Thursday night. It's kind of scary, but he's just 11-14 against the spread with the Chiefs with extra time to prepare. That record is heavily skewed from his time in Philadelphia.

I still think this is a very, very good Bengals team even without Tee Higgins. Another week of practice will do them well, especially with Ja'Marr Chase having sat out for most of training camp.

I think you get a more desperate Bengals team that doesn't want to start the season 0-2, and the Chiefs tend to bring out the best in Cincinnati.

Give me the Bengals +6 in Kansas City this week. I make this spread closer to four or 4.5 points. Kansas City is the better team, but I still rate the Bengals pretty highly.

Also, Week 2 underdogs that are +6 or less coming off a Week 1 loss are 70-37 against the spread. The trends back Burrow here. He's not only 3-1 in his career against the Chiefs, but he's 15-3 against the spread as an underdog of three or more points.

Pick: Bengals +6
