The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) host the Cleveland Browns (0-1) in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET from EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville on CBS, and the game can be streamed on Paramount+. The Jaguars are favored by 3 points with the game total set at 41.5.

Jacksonville nearly beat the Miami Dolphins in its season opener but surrendered a 10-point halftime lead by going scoreless in the second half. Travis Etienne Jr. was inches from increasing the lead to 13, but a goal-line fumble was compounded by an 80-yard touchdown for the Dolphins on the next play from scrimmage. The Jaguars eventually lost the game on a last-second field goal.

Cleveland's season opener was a disaster from start to finish. The Browns fell 33-17 to Dallas, giving up 27 consecutive points. Browns quarterback DeShaun Watson struggled badly, finished with 169 yards passing and two interceptions. Cleveland struggled on third down in particular, converting on just 2 of 15 attempts.

Let's get into my Browns vs. Jaguars prediction and my NFL picks and predictions for Week 2 on Sunday.

Browns vs. Jaguars NFL Week 2 Preview, Picks

Deshaun Watson was terrible again last week, so it looks like nothing has changed from last season. With that said, I think now is the time to back the Browns.

Despite Watson being a shell of his former self so far with the Browns, Cleveland is 8-5 when he starts dating back to his team debut in 2022. There are a lot of teams that could be playoff contenders that are struggling early in the season. The Browns still have a playoff-caliber defense that was the best in the NFL last season.

The hate on the Cowboys had gone too far entering the regular season. Dallas had what fans would consider an underwhelming offseason, but it reminded everyone why it won the NFC East last season with an impressive season-opening win. Mike Zimmer is an excellent defensive mind now that he doesn’t have to worry about being a head coach.

The Jaguars defense, meanwhile, struggled to maintain its lead against the Dolphins. Miami shot itself in the foot early but still finished with 400 yards of offense.

Jacksonville’s secondary graded out very poorly, which is especially a concern since its best corner in Tyson Campbell is going to miss time. This could be a matchup for Watson and the Browns offense to get going.

Best Bet for Browns vs. Jaguars

This is another spot where we're going to back a Week 2 underdog that's coming off of a Week 1 loss by double-digit points.

I'm backing the Browns on the road this week. I'd prefer to get +3.5 but would still play +3. If you need to buy it to +3.5, I'd play that to -120.

Pick: Browns +3
