Sunday Night Football Week 9 serves up a chance to see the Indianapolis Colts (4-4) take on the Minnesota Vikings (5-2) in primetime, with the Colts starting Joe Flacco under center after benching Anthony Richardson. Kickoff from US Bank Stadium is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
Let's get to my Colts vs Vikings props, which include NFL SNF picks for Flacco, Aaron Jones and T.J. Hockenson.
Colts vs Vikings Player Props
- Aaron Jones Over 72.5 Rushing Yards (-108, Caesars)
- Joe Flacco Over 35.5 Passing Attempts (-105, bet365)
- T.J. Hockenson Anytime Touchdown (+240, FanDuel)
Aaron Jones Player Props: How to Bet RB on SNF
Aaron Jones Over 72.5 Rushing Yards (-108)
You simply have to take an Aaron Jones prop in this game. He’s the best running back by a margin on the Vikings roster, as evidenced by getting 100% of the team’s RB carries last week against the Rams. That said, the safest way to back Jones is by backing Over on rushing yards rather than rushing attempts.
The Colts have been terrible against the run this year. Only the Panthers and Cowboys are giving up more rushing yards per game than the Colts with a staggering 151.9. With Jones likely to get the bulk of carries, if not all of them, he’ll have every opportunity to cover his rushing yard line.
Joe Flacco Player Props: Expect Veteran to Sling It?
Joe Flacco Over 35.5 Passing Attempts (-105)
The quarterback change from Anthony Richardson to Joe Flacco is likely to help this Colts’ offense, with the team winning two of the three games in which he’s played this year. He’s not an elite QB, but he is a reasonable passer and has good WRs in Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce and Josh Downs.
He’s averaged 36 passing attempts in those three games this season, with 38 and 44 in his two most recent games. He’s also covered his passing attempts line in seven of his last eight appearances. With the Vikings giving up the third-most passing yardage per game, and the Colts likely playing from behind, we could be set to see a lot from Flacco.
T.J. Hockenson Player Props: Anytime TD Prop Bet
T.J. Hockenson Anytime Touchdown (+240)
The star Vikings’ tight end returns to action this week and comes into Sunday Night Football with no injury designation. It’s been a long way back for TJ Hockenson, but we can trust that he’ll be a key target for Sam Darnold thanks to his size and athleticism.
The Colts are a good opponent for the tight end to come back against. They rank eighth in yardage allowed to TEs, but they are tied for third in touchdowns allowed to the position, giving up four TDs to tight ends on the year, averaging one every other game.
At +240, Hockenson is worth a gamble to find the end zone upon his return.
