Dallas Goedert Player Props
The Super Bowl is the biggest game in football, the culmination of a long season for players, fans and bettors alike. This is our favorite game of the year and over in Arizona, we're being served up a peach with two of the NFL's most exciting offenses in the Eagles and the Chiefs.
Every conversation around the Eagles over the past week-plus has been based around their impressive ground game, but I'm doing a deep dive on tight end Dallas Goedert, who offers one of the most interesting betting angles for Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium.
Betting Picks
Since he was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Dallas Goedert has developed into a key piece of the Eagles offense.
Time spent alongside three-time Pro Bowler Zach Ertz helped turn him into one of the NFL's best tight ends, hovering in that second tier below the likes of Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews. The 28-year-old is a key safety blanket target for quarterback Jalen Hurts.
There are three main ways to consider wagering on Goedert — receptions, receiving yards or a touchdown.
The anytime touchdown is an interesting option, but the odds (+187) feel a little too short to recommend that. While he's been important to the Eagles, it's notable that he's only scored four times all year, though one of them was in the Divisional Round against the Giants. The Chiefs allowed nine touchdowns to tight ends in the regular season, amongst the most in the league, but this isn't a bet that appeals.
That brings us to choosing between receiving yards (49.5) or receptions (4.5). Although I suspect that he hits the over for both, I'm partial to backing receptions.
Goedert had over 49.5 receiving yards in eight of 14 games this season. Despite the Chiefs giving up plenty of scores to tight ends in the regular season, they were actually quite effective at limiting yardage to the position, giving up an average of 46.5 per game, which ranked in the top half amongst all defenses.
The receptions line of 4.5 feels like the safest option and is the one I will be taking. It's hit in Goedert's past three games, proving that he's a reliable option in big games for Hurts. In 14 games, he's had five or more receptions seven times, with targets exceeding 4.5 on 10 occasions.
With the season on the line against a formidable Chiefs front, we can expect Hurts to look to Goedert to move the chains. Back over 4.5 receptions for the South Dakota State product.
Pick: Dallas Goedert Over 4.5 Receptions |
