The Detroit Lions (12-2) and Chicago Bears (4-10) will face off in NFL Week 16. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET from Soldier Field in Chicago. The game will be broadcast live on FOX and can be streamed on YouTube TV.
The Lions are 7-point favorites over the Bears on the spread, with the over/under set at 48 total points. The Lions are -340 favorites to win outright, while the Bears are +270 to pull off the upset.
Detroit had won 11 straight before falling 48-42 to Buffalo last week in a game in which Jared Goff threw for 494 yards and five TDs. Chicago, meanwhile, has dropped seven straight after a 30-12 loss to Minnesota on Monday Night Football.
Let's get into my Bears vs Lions predictions and NFL picks for Sunday afternoon.
Lions vs. Bears Prediction, Picks
Spread
The Bears certainly haven't looked anywhere close to good of late, but this is a prime chance to fade Jared Goff outdoors. And Detroit's injuries may be too much to ignore.
I like Chicago against the spread in this one.
Moneyline
While I like the Bears on the spread, I have no play on the moneyline here.
Over/Under
I see no value on the total in this matchup.
My Pick: Bears +7 (-115)

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears Preview
I played the Bears back on Thanksgiving, which closed at 8.5 and ended with a cover after a strong second-half performance.
I can’t get to this number with the Lions on the road. Jared Goff has annually turned into a pumpkin when playing outdoors, especially in conditions like the high of 30 degrees that it’s going to be in Chicago. This isn’t going to be the uber-efficient Lions offense that we see when they play at Ford Field.
The Bears are a mess right now. I’m not going to act like that’s not the case.
Especially in the first halves of games, they do absolutely nothing and get totally dominated. That was the case on Thanksgiving against the Lions, and that was the case against the Vikings last week.
Interim head coach Thomas Brown seems like he’s in over his head. Also, the Bears defense has taken a noteworthy turn for the worse since Matt Eberflus was fired.
So, why am I betting on them?
Well, it’s a chance to fade Goff outdoors, and the Lions’ injury situation is too much to ignore.
Detroit’s injured reserve could field a defense that would help it compete for the Super Bowl at this point. It’s absolutely bonkers.
What do the Lions have left? The injuries have piled up and are not isolated to just one position, instead at every level of the defense. Last week DT Alim McNeil went down, as did CB Carlton Davis, who has been great this season and provided a much-needed presence in the secondary.
Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has been running the same defense without any adjustments for the injuries. The Lions have benefitted from beating up on some backup quarterbacks, but the defense is vulnerable, which was beaten badly last week by the Bills.
In the second half on Thanksgiving, Caleb Williams looked very good. He’ll be able to use his legs and he should have a good day – at least in the second half – against this beat-up Lions defense.
My Pick: Bears +7
