The Detroit Lions (7-1) and Houston Texans (6-3) close the Sunday slate of NFL Week 10. Kickoff for Sunday Night Football is set for 8:20 p.m. ET from NRG Stadium in Houston. The game will be broadcast live on NBC and can be streamed on Peacock, YouTube TV and other streaming services.

Lions vs Texans odds (via bet365) have the Lions as -185 moneyline favorites and the Texans as +155 underdogs. The over/under is 50 (-110o / -110u). The Lions are 3.5-point favorites on the spread (-3.5).

Let's get into my Lions vs Texans predictions and picks for Sunday Night Football

Lions vs Texans Picks and Predictions

Spread

I make this spread about Lions -2, so getting more than a field goal here is huge. I bet this one right away last Sunday night when it was Texans +4.5 and would take anything more than +3.

Over/Under

I don't have a pick on the Sunday Night Football total.

Moneyline

I'm taking the points and not betting Houston's moneyline.

My pick: Texans +3.5

Lions vs Texans Sunday Night Football Preview

The Lions are a covering machine. We haven’t seen a run like Dan Campbell has been on since he took over as head coach. It’s simply remarkable.

With that said, I cannot get to this number on the road. It opened at Lions -4.5 last Sunday and I was all over that. I’m still here at -3.5.

While you know at this point that Jared Goff is much better when playing indoors, you might not know how much that’s the case for C.J. Stroud, as well. When playing at home in the confines of NRG Stadium, Stroud has completed 66.4% of passes for 22 touchdowns and five interceptions in 12 games. On the road, Stroud has completed 60.7% of passes for 12 touchdowns and four interceptions, also in 12 games.

Houston could also get a massive boost this week if Nico Collins returns. It doesn’t look likely, but that would be a huge upgrade for a Houston offense that has also lost Stefon Diggs since Collins went down. Without Collins, the Texans are 6-13 straight-up in his career.

The Lions have also been quite fortunate in that they lead the NFL in turnover margin this season. Last year, they were a middle-of-the-pack team in that category. A great example of how they’ve benefited from that this season is when they put up 52 points on the Titans last week on four turnovers and getting out-gained significantly by Tennessee.

Something similar happened last week against the Packers. It was a brutal weather game for both teams, but the Lions were gifted seven points right before halftime when Jordan Love threw a pick-six. Green Bay, though, was far and away the more efficient team throughout the entire 60 minutes.

The Texans will be coming off extended rest here after playing the Jets on Thursday Night Football. They needed a break to figure some things out on offense without some key playmakers. This is a second straight road game for Detroit coming off a big divisional win.

I already bet Houston when this was Texans +4.5 earlier in the week. I’d back Houston as long as I’m getting more of a field goal.

Pick: Texans +3.5 (-115)
