Super Bowl 59 is among us where the Kansas City Chiefs look to complete the unthinkable by winning three Super Bowls in a row against the Philadelphia Eagles. It's a rematch of Super Bowl 57 where the Chiefs began this historic run.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Continue below for my Chiefs vs. Eagles player prop centered around DeVonta Smith for Super Bowl 59.

The sad reality is that DeVonta Smith is Jalen Hurts’ third option in this offense, potentially even his fourth if he includes himself, but despite that, he could have an important role on Sunday and cause the Chiefs issues.

Picking a market to wager on Smith is a tricky one though. As talented as the former ‘Bama man is, he’s not a touchdown machine, although he racked up a respectable eight on the season, he’s still without a single target in the red zone during the playoff run.

That leaves us considering receptions, yardage or longest reception and it’s the Over on his reception total of 4.5 that feels the safest here, but all three are probably worth considering for all the same reason.

We know that the Chiefs will be doing everything possible to slow down Saquon Barkley. We also know that AJ Brown will likely be covered by Trent McDuffie, as well as being doubled up on at times too. That’s going to leave space in the middle of the field for Smith to exploit from the slot.

Across the whole regular and post-season we’ve seen Smith average five receptions per game exactly, with an average of 6.3 targets per game too. He’s also averaged 59.6 receiving yards per game in that timeframe too, again above his total of 52.5 for this game.

It’s a long time ago but Smith has performed well against the Chiefs in the past. In Week 11 of last season he caught six of eight targets for 99 yards and had a big performance when these two teams met in the Super Bowl a year earlier, hauling in seven of nine for 100 yards.

It’s not fair to draw an exact comparison between the teams then and now but it shows that Smith can excel against a Spagnuolo defense and with the added wrinkle of having to contain Barkley, it’s only going to help Smith further.

With a positive matchup, most likely against Jaylen Watson, we should see Smith presented with opportunity and while he hasn’t put up big numbers in the playoffs so far, he has been efficient, as he’s caught every single target.
