Update: Drake cashes two of his three Super Bowl bets with Odell Beckham Jr.'s game-opening touchdown and the Rams' win over the Bengals.
Drake woke up feeling a lot more dangerous than Baker Mayfield. The four-time Grammy winner and renowned rapper took to Instagram to share photos of the three bets he placed on the 2022 Super Bowl that total $1.25 million in bitcoin on the Rams and Odell Beckham Jr.
His caption simply read, "All bets are in on the family."
The bets — which the Toronto native placed in Canadian dollars and have been converted to U.S. dollars here — amounted to more than $1 million in profit.
On his first bet, he risked more than $471,000 on the Rams winning outright for a payout of more than $711,000. His subsequent bets both relied on Beckham, who was traded to the Rams this season after discontent with his previous team — the Browns.
Drake wagered almost $393,000 apiece on two Beckham props — one of which came to fruition with OBJ’s game-opening touchdown in the first quarter — an anytime TD and Beckham to top 62.5 receiving yards.
Beckham also had some money on the line in the game, earning $1 million in incentives because the Rams won. His one-year deal with L.A. features a total of $3 million in incentives, with OBJ already earning $2 million entering the game.
The Drake and OBJ bromance is nearly as old as Beckham's NFL career, so it is unsurprising the former Degrassi star was willing to bet on his best friend in the biggest NFL game of the year.
The Rams were positioned as 4- to 4.5-point favorites heading into Super Bowl LVI and Beckham was off to a hot start — racking up 52 receiving yards and a score — before he went down in the second quarter with an apparent non-contact knee injury. In the third quarter, the Rams confirmed that Beckham has been downgraded to out and will not return to the Super Bowl.
With one bet cashed and one off the table (OBJ needed 11 more receiving yards to hit the over on Drake's bet), the Rams were able to bring home Drake's final bet with a win in Super Bowl LVI.
