There is a new sheriff in town in the NFC East.

Just two days before the start of the NFL regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles have become the betting favorites in the NFC East at Caesars Sportsbook and BetMGM.

Money has been rolling in on the Eagles for the last couple of months, but the sportsbooks have taken some time to crown Philly as the preseason favorite to win the division.

That honor has belonged to the reigning NFC East champion, the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys were dealt a massive blow when Tyron Smith was ruled out for at least the majority of the season with a torn hamstring. Smith is an eight-time Pro Bowler for the Cowboys at left tackle.

That allowed for even more bets to come in on the Eagles and for Caesars to ultimately make the Eagles the favorite in the NFC East. The Eagles are now +130 to win the division while the Cowboys are +135 at Caesars.

The Birds account for 47.8% of the tickets at Caesars and 54.8% of the money to win the NFC East.

Philly has become a massive liability as a division winner at BetMGM. The Eagles are the most bet on team to win their division by both ticket count and handle. The Eagles account for 64.9% of the bets to win the NFC East at BetMGM and 72.6% of the money.

BetMGM made the Eagles favorites to win the NFC East as of Tuesday afternoon. Philadelphia is now +130 to win the division while the Cowboys are +150 at BetMGM. The Cowboys were the favorites as of Tuesday morning.

On August 31, Caesars reported the Eagles — at 25/1 odds — had received the most money to finish with the best record in the NFL than all NFC teams combined.

Whether it's the optimism in Philadelphia or optimism throughout the country, the Eagles have become a public darling to exceed expectations this season.
