Malik Nabers suffered a concussion toward the end of the Giants’ loss to the Cowboys last Thursday and his status for this week’s game against the Seahawks appears very much in doubt.
Unfortunately, the rookie phenom hasn’t practiced all week, and according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, it’s looking “more and more unlikely” that Nabers will suit up.
Nabers’ absence would be a brutal blow to a Giants’ offense that’s been fairly anemic, even with him on the field. They’re averaging just 15 points per game, which is the third-fewest in the NFL. Nabers’ murky status is a big reason why the Seahawks have gone from 5.5-point favorites to 6.5-point favorites as the week’s gone on.
Nabers leads the NFL in receptions (35) and targets (52), ranks second in yards (386) and is tied for third with three-touchdown receptions. He ranks second in the Offensive Rookie of the Year race (+300) behind only Jayden Daniels (-175).
Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton figure to see more targets in Nabers' absence. Robinson has caught 26 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown while Slayton has hauled in 10 passes for 122 yards. Meanwhile, no other wide receiver on the roster has seen a target.
Nabers isn’t the only important Giants skill player whose availability is in question. Starting running back Devin Singletary’s battling a groin injury that’s kept him from practicing this week.
