Quarterback Josh Dobbs is on the move. The Minnesota Vikings traded for the quarterback just a few hours before the NFL trade deadline.
The Vikings were in the market for a quarterback after Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles this past weekend.
Fortunately for the Vikings — who currently sit in second place in the NFC North and hold the third wild card spot in the NFC — there were still a few days before the deadline. And the Vikings got their guy from the Arizona Cardinals.
The #Vikings are trading for #AZCardinals QB Josh Dobbs, with plenty of starting experience, per me and @TomPelissero.
It helps make up for the loss of Kirk Cousins. And gives MIN a chance… pic.twitter.com/TUEnTemakr

Dobbs entered the NFL in 2018 and has had the most starts of his career in 2023 for the Cardinals. Dobbs has played in eight games and led the Cardinals to a 1-7 record. Dobbs got the opportunity to start for the Cardinals after Kyler Murray was injured before the start of the season. Murray is set to make his return in the coming weeks.
Dobbs threw for eight touchdowns and had five interceptions through eight games this season. He totaled 1,569 passing yards and had a 62.8% completion percentage.
The Vikings were +15000 to win the Super Bowl at BetMGM to start the week and are currently +15000 after acquiring Dobbs. They didn't move in NFC odds (+6600) or NFC North (+3500) odds either.
Dobbs will likely be in a quarterback competition with rookie Jaren Hall to start this week against the Atlanta Falcons. Nick Mullens is also expected to be in the mix.
