The Miami Dolphins on Saturday officially named Tyler "Snoop" Huntley their starting quarterback ahead of facing the Titans on Monday Night Football.
Miami claimed Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad in mid-September after starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion that has landed him on Miami's injured reserve list. Huntley, 26, spent the first four seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens as a backup for Lamar Jackson before signing with the Cleveland Browns this offseason.
The Browns released Huntley in August. Huntley will start ahead of Skylar Thompson, who started Miami's 24-3 loss to the Seahawks last week. Thompson went 13-for-19 with 107 yards and he took five sacks.
"Snoop has started multiple and many big games," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told media Saturday."As a quarterback, understanding exactly what is required to win over teammates to take the place of someone else and assert their own personality and skill set and traits within the offense and lead people."
The move to make Huntley Miami's new starter has been anticipated throughout the week. However, the line on Monday's contest has seen some movement in recent days. The Titans were previously a consensus one-point favorite early in the week. But after the Dolphins announced Huntley as starter, the line has settled with them as 1.5-point favorites.
Per Action Network's Evan Abrams, the Dolphins have lost three straight home night games SU on the moneyline. Miami is currently the only NFL team to not have led a second of any game this season. The Dolphins enter the primetime matchup 1-2. The Titans are winless at 0-3.
