Spread

The Jaguars have lost six of their last seven and the Raiders have dropped 10 straight, but someone has to win here.

I'm picking the Raiders to break their streak and win (and cover).

Moneyline

While I like Las Vegas against the spread, I won't be betting the Raiders on the moneyline.

Over/Under

I don't see any value on the total in this matchup.

My Pick: Raiders -1

Jaguars vs. Raiders Week 16 Preview, Predictions

It looks like Aidan O’Connell is going to return on Sunday, and that’s all I needed to see to make this pick. I like what I’ve seen from O’Connell this season, specifically against man coverage.

Something’s got to give for the Raiders. They’re the second-unluckiest team in the NFL this season, according to our Luck Rankings, and they get a matchup against a bad team.

The Raiders are -19 in turnover margin. They’ve fumbled 18 times and lost 13 of those. That seems almost impossible.

Meanwhile, their opponents have fumbled nine times and they’ve only recovered one. They’ve only recovered six of a possible 27 fumbles this season.

Opposing teams are also converting on fourth down at an 80% clip against the Raiders, which is way, way above the NFL average.

The Raiders have lost 10 games in a row, and all of those teams are at least above average. The Falcons might be the worst of the bunch, but that was with Desmond Ridder starting under center. Injuries have also been a problem for Las Vegas, specifically in the secondary.

I know Maxx Crosby is out and that is a big blow, but the Raiders defense ranks around the top 20 in EPA/play given up. The Jaguars are the worst in the NFL. I’m taking the better defense that gets a chance to face Mac Jones.

The Raiders are looking to end a 10-game losing streak and are showing no signs of quitting. This team is fighting hard, and the loss to the Chiefs back on Black Friday is a prime example. O’Connell was impressive down the stretch in that one with a long touchdown to Tre Tucker.

I’m betting on the team with the better quarterback and defense that has a good matchup on both sides of the ball. I could see Jacksonville coming out flat here, so give me the Raiders.

My Pick: Raiders -1
