The Denver Broncos outlasted the New York Jets in a rainy Week 4 matchup on Sunday.

Despite being eight-point underdogs, the Broncos pulled off a 10-9 victory. Denver was available at +325 on the moneyline ahead of kickoff.

The result extends an impressive run for seven-point underdogs this season. According to Action Network’s Evan Abrams, they are now 5-0 SU to start the season. This year marks the first time seven-point underdogs have started the season above .500 through two weeks since 1983.

The wet conditions at MetLife Stadium had a significant impact on play. In the first half, Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix didn’t complete a single pass beyond the line of scrimmage and finished 7-for-15 for minus-seven yards.

Luckily for the Broncos, the Nix connected on his first-career touchdown pass — an 8-yard hookup with Courtland Sutton — late in the third quarter to take the lead. Nix (who entered Week 4 with the fifth-best odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year) finished Sunday 12-for-25 with 60 yards.

The game’s 19-point total fell well short of the 39.5 line. Both sides traded fourth-quarter field goals, but Greg Zuerlein missed a 50-yard field goal on New York’s final possession, clinching Denver’s second win of the season.
