Chicago Bears second-year running back Khalil Herbert will get the start in Sunday's game against the New York Giants following news that David Montgomery will be inactive in Week 4 due to ankle and knee injuries.
While Herbert is technically the "backup," he's already been very productive through three games this season, rushing for 240 yards and three touchdowns to this point.
Obviously, Herbert now becomes a very appealing running back option for fantasy football players, but where exactly does he slot at the position for Week 4?
With the help of the Action Network's fantasy football Week 4 rankings, here's where Herbert sits heading into Sunday's matchups.
Khalil Herbert Fantasy Football Start or Sit?
Simply put: Herbert is a very strong start in Week 4.
The Bears running back now slots in as the RB10 in standard formats based on our latest fantasy football rankings, making him a low-end RB1 on Sunday.
Herbert slips a little bit in the Action Network's fantasy football rankings in PPR formats, but is still a very viable play.
In these leagues, Herbert checks in at RB14, dropping him from a low-end RB1 to a mid-to-high end RB2 depending on the number of teams in your league.
Interestingly, because Herbert was essentially a late-round flier in many fantasy football drafts, managers could be facing a decision on whether to start or sit Chicago's lead back on Sunday.
For example, it's not out of the realm of possibility for some fantasy football managers to have Herbert, Jamaal Williams, who will be starting for Detroit in Week 4 with D'Andre Swift sidelined, as well as running backs drafted in the first couple of rounds.
Seems like a nice problem to have, doesn't it?
