This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Las Vegas Raiders (5-3) and Cincinnati Bengals (5-3) will begin the Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 9 at 1 p.m. ET from Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati. The game will be live on FOX and can be streamed on YouTube TV and other services. The Bengals are favored by 8 points over the Raiders (Bengals -8) with the game total set at 45 points. The Bengals are -400 on the moneyline to win and Las Vegas is +310 to pull off the upset.

The Bengals lost 37-17 last week to the Eagles. Joe Burrow's numbers are starting to taper off, having thrown for fewer than than 208 yards per game to go along with a total of 3 touchdown passes in his last 3 games. However, the Bengals are playing better all around football with two wins in their last three games. The Raiders lost 27-20 last week to the Chiefs. Gardner Minshew is back under center after being benched earlier in the season, but he was reinserted after Aidan O'Connell got hurt.

Let's get to my Raiders vs. Bengals predictions and my NFL picks for Week 9.

Raiders vs. Bengals Expert Picks

Spread

I'm in line with the total for this game. The Raiders haven't shown much of late, although I can't quite trust the Bengals.

Moneyline

I'm not betting either team's moneyline for this game.

Over/Under

While I'm in line with the full-game total, I see value in betting the first half. I'm on the under for this game, as I'll get into below.

My pick: First Half Under 23.5 Points

Raiders vs. Bengals NFL Week 9

Unfortunately, my projections are in line with both the side and the total, so we're going to have to get creative here to take a stand on this game.

Cincinnati is unlikely to have WR Tee Higgins for the second straight game, and left tacke Orlando Brown Jr. is unlikely to play with a leg injury. Brown is a four-time Pro Bowl tackle and while Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby lines up predominantly on the offense's right side, he still takes about one-fifth of his snaps on the left. Las Vegas may be wise to use him a bit more on that side with Joe Burrow's blind-side tackle out.

If the loss of Higgins and Brown cause the Bengals to get off to a slow start, this game could struggle for early scoring. These offenses have combined for just 19.3 first-half points compared to 23.1 in the second half. The defenses share a similar split by allowing 23.4 first-half points combined compared to 27.9 after halftime

If the Bengals have the second-half lead, which is the most likely outcome, that would be the worst-case scenario for the full-game under since these teams play a combined 1.2 seconds per play faster in the second half in that scenario, if the Bengals are leading and Raiders are trailing. So, instead of taking the game under, we should just roll with the first half under.

That makes sense because I have the full-game total right at 46, where it currently sits. So, the most likely way to get there is under in the first half and over in the second half thanks to a Bengals lead.

Let's start with the most predictable part since we know what the game state will be at the start of the game and not necessarily at the start of the second half.

Pick: 1H Under 23.5 (-110)
