Robert Tonyan
Anytime Touchdown +330 (FanDuel)
Although many of my friends who are Packers fans have come to lose faith in their starting tight end, I still believe in Tonyan.
He got on the board last week with a touchdown in a tough spot against Minnesota. On the Week 17 edition of “The Touchdown Show,” we actually “sold” him for the divisional matchup because we didn’t like him at +275 odds when +350 was closer to fair projected value. Well, it ended up being the only Packers passing touchdown in the game, so shame on me.
Now we’re getting Tonyan at +320 odds in an AMAZING matchup. The Lions defense has improved, but they’re still vulnerable over the middle, especially to tight ends.
For the season, the Lions are last in touchdowns allowed to the position. I actually bet Tonyan the last time these teams played each other (Week 9). That’s when Aaron Rodgers threw three interceptions for the first time in five years — two of those throws directed at Tonyan in the end zone.
Part of the reason why I bet on him last time wasn’t just the matchup, but how Tonyan fared historically against Detroit, a team he’s typically feasted on.
Entering the Week 9 loss, Tonyan had scored in three straight games against Detroit and two of those contests were at Lambeau Field. I like him to get another to close the season and help push the Packers into the playoffs.
Pick: Robert Tonyan Anytime Touchdown |
