Rams vs Saints Predictions

Spread

These teams are trending in different directions.

The honeymoon period is ending for the Saints' interim coach, while the Rams defense has showed promise in recent weeks. I'll lay the points with Los Angeles here.

Moneyline

I will focus my bet on the spread and not play either team's moneyline.

Over/Under

I'm not betting this game's total.

My Pick: Rams -2.5 (-115)

Rams vs Saints Preview & Prediction for NFL Week 13

Based on season-long numbers, this game should be dead even.

The Rams are 20th in overall DVOA and the Saints are 18th. The Rams are 16th on offense; the Saints 14th. The Rams are 23rd on defense; the Saints are 22nd.

However, those numbers don’t tell you which direction these teams are heading in right now.

The Saints offense is a mess with Mason Tipton and Cedrick Wilson Jr. as their top receivers. The offensive line is also in its natural state of chaos.

New Orleans' defense ranks No. 1 in DVOA against opposing No. 1 wide receivers, but Marshon Lattimore is gone. Over the last six weeks, New Orleans also has the worst run defense in the NFL.

The Saints could be in serious trouble considering that the Rams' offensive line is getting healthy to complement a strong ground game featuring Kyren Williams and two No. 1 receivers in Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp.

The honeymoon period is over for Saints interim coach Darren Rizzi. The Rams aren’t the Falcons or Browns and have a young pass rush that should put Derek Carr under pressure all game. Rookies Jared Verse and Braden Fiske are thriving and give the Rams a fringe top-10 defense.

This is also a good buy-low/sell-high spot after two Saints wins and a Rams loss. A team that lost by 17 or more points the previous week that faces a team that won by 17 or more the previous week covers that matchup 61% of the time.

McVay covers at a 59% clip after a loss, and road favorites of six or fewer points playing a team coming off its bye week are 28-15-2 (65%) against the spread.

My Pick: Rams -2.5 (-115)
