In somewhat surprising news, Saints running back Alvin Kamara (rib) was ruled out due to injury with than two hours before New Orleans' Week 4 game against Minnesota on Sunday morning in London.
Saints offensive starters are dropping like flies, with starting quarterback Jameis Winston and top wide receiver Michael Thomas also out against the Vikings.
An offense led by Andy Dalton and Jarvis Landry might not be the most exciting for Saints fans, but fantasy football managers should take note that running back Mark Ingram is now in line for a much larger workload.
With a very tight window between the news breaking that Kamara won't play and Sunday's Vikings vs. Saints 9:30 a.m. ET kick, let's take a very quick look at whether fantasy football managers should consider plugging Ingram into their lineups for Week 4.
Mark Ingram Fantasy Football Start or Sit?
Volume is extremely important in fantasy football and Ingram should get plenty of just that on Sunday morning.
To start, there frankly aren't that many options for New Orleans' offense in today's game, so don't be surprised to see the Saints lean on the run game early with Ingram.
In addition, Ingram is a capable receiver out of the backfield as well and could rack up check-down passes from Dalton, making him an even more appealing option in PPR formats.
And finally, the Vikings defense hasn't been anything to write home about so far this season.
Minnesota ranks just 31st in the NFL in Football Outsiders' rushing defense DVOA, so there is a path for Ingram to have some success in this game.
From a very high level, Ingram checks in as a solid FLEX option in shorter leagues, but certainly has RB2 appeal into deeper leagues or if your struggling to deal with injuries to Kamara, D'Andre Swift or David Montgomery at the running back position.
