Jan. 30 Update: NFL.com's Ian Rapaport reports we can expect a Stafford trade before the Super Bowl, and FanDuel lists the 49ers now as the most likely destination.
When FanDuel releases these odds, they listed the Colts and Patriots as the most likely suitors, with the 49ers third.
Jan. 26 Update: The quarterback carousel is expected to be crowded this offseason with Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford one of the top options.
Stafford is expected to find a new home, as ESPN reported both he and the Lions have agreed to part ways with the front office listening to trade offers for the franchise quarterback.
Earlier, we looked at Deshaun Watson's trade odds as the top potential quarterback on the move. Thanks to FanDuel, we can assess the early market for Stafford.
A year after signing Philip Rivers away from the Chargers, the Indianapolis Colts are the +210 favorite to take away another franchise stalwart. With Rivers retiring, the Colts have a hole at quarterback but are in a win-now window that Stafford fits nicely into. It's unlikely Indianapolis wants to hand over the offense to a rookie. Jacoby Brissett is under contract for one more season.
Right behind the Colts are the Patriots and 49ers at +350. New England tried the Cam Newton experiment for a year but seems likely to move on. The 49ers have won with Jimmy Garoppolo, but he hasn't been worth his mega-contract. San Francisco is another team with most other pieces in place and just needs reliable play under center.
Miami has better odds at acquiring Watson than Stafford but with rookie Tua Tagovailoa failing to separate from Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Dolphins are mentioned in quarterback rumors.
The opinion here is the Panthers would rather draft and develop a young quarterback than replace Teddy Bridgewater with Stafford. Washington's situation is tricky without a clear answer for the future and not knowing what's next for Alex Smith.
