After an MRI, Parsons was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and, despite having 10 days to recover for this week's game, was already unlikely to see the field. According to Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill, Parsons was seen in a walking boot and on a scooter on Monday. Parsons' loss is huge for a Cowboys defense that ranks 27th in the NFL in points allowed per game (26.0 PPG) through four weeks.
The Cowboys will also be without fellow defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who was placed on Injured Reserve Tuesday and will miss at least four weeks with a foot injury he suffered in the same Thursday night game against the Giants.
The Cowboys opened as 1.5-point underdogs on the road in Pittsburgh and that line has moved a point to Cowboys +2.5 throughout the week, according to Action Network betting data. The total has also been on the move for Cowboys vs Steelers as well. The over/under for the Week 5 Sunday nightcap opened at 41.5 and has since moved to 44 as of Friday afternoon. This season, the over is 3-1 in Cowboys games, with all three overs topping 50 combined points.
