Is last year’s Mr. Irrelevant really going to be this year’s MVP? He very well might be.

Brock Purdy is now the odds-on favorite to win NFL MVP after another lights-out performance.

Purdy entered Sunday with the second-best MVP odds at DraftKings. He was +185 and trailed only Dak Prescott, who was +160. However, he passed Prescott on Sunday and is -190, as of 10 a.m. ET on Monday morning, while the Cowboys’ quarterback is +450 and tied with Lamar Jackson.

Purdy completed 16-of-25 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns in San Francisco's 45-29 blowout win over the Cardinals. It’s the third time he’s thrown at least four touchdowns in a game this season.

Purdy’s now tied with Prescott for the most TD passes with an NFL-high 28. He also has the highest yards per attempt in a single season in the Super Bowl era, narrowly pulling ahead of another unlikely star quarterback, Kurt Warner.

Meanwhile, Purdy's main competitor struggled mightily as Prescott authored his worst performance of the season in Buffalo's 31-10 demolition of Dallas. He failed to throw a touchdown for the first time since Week 1 and completed only 21-of-34 passes for 134 yards and a pick.  Also, most of those yards and completions came in a meaningless fourth quarter with the game well out of hand. Prescott had completed just 10 passes for 59 yards heading into the final quarter.

The 49ers pulled ahead of the Cowboys in the race for the NFC’s top seed as a result of both quarterbacks’ performances. San Francisco is now 11-3 on the year while Dallas is 10-4. The 49ers also hold the tiebreaker over the Cowboys thanks to their 42-10 win in Week 5.
