With five weeks remaining in the NFL season, there are some meaningful playoff races that are reaching the business end of their progression.
Two of those races include the New York Jets and New York Giants, who have implied odds of progressing to the postseason that are just about 50/50.
Over at BetMGM, the Jets are currently +105 to make the playoffs and -125 to miss the postseason. While you have to account for the vig to get true implied probabilities, the former number amounts to an estimated 49% number, while the latter is approximately 56%.
The Jets fell to the Vikings last week after coming close to putting up a massive comeback effort. As it currently stands, the Jets are 7-5, a game ahead of the Patriots and the Chargers for the last Wild Card spot in the AFC.
New England is a +240 underdog to reach the postseason, while the Chargers are seen as a bit better off with +150 odds.

Over in the NFC, the Giants are a true 50/50, with -110 odds at BetMGM to make and miss the playoffs.
At 7-4-1, the Giants are in a race against the Commanders and the Seahawks for the final two Wild Card positions in the conference.
The three teams are likely safe from the teams that are beyond them, with the Lions the next-best team at 5-7 and no team better than 5-8 after Detroit. The Lions have +550 odds to reach the postseason.
