NFL Preseason Quarterback Matchups

This will be updated before every slate of preseason games.

Giants vs. Patriots

The Giants will have their starters play for most of the first quarter while the Patriots are expected to rest their starters. New York head coach Brian Daboll will likely want a strong showing from his starting unit as they are learning a new scheme, plus he is a Belichick disciple who wouldn’t mind winning against his former mentor.

Even when Tyrod Taylor takes over the Giants offense in the second quarter, I still think they will have the upper hand against Brian Hoyer & The Backups (my new band name).

I’m taking the Giants to win the first half at -154 at FanDuel.

For the second half, we should see Davis Webb vs. Bailey Zappe. I would give the Patriots a slight edge here since Zappe may have a decent supporting cast to throw to in Tyquan Thornton, Kristian Wilkerson, Lil’Jordan Humphrey and others in the second half.

The Giants' depth is going to be a bit weaker with Davis Webb under center. I’ll be looking into potentially backing the Patriots if they're plus money and/or looking into backing the under if the number is over 14.5.

Titans vs. Ravens

The Ravens are currently on a 20-game win streak in the preseason. Still, they won’t be playing many starters tonight and are resting key players like Lamar Jackson, Mark Andrews, Ronnie Stanley, Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters and others.

I think the hype around Baltimore's win streak will cause their odds to be inflated for tonight’s game.

The Ravens will certainly have the edge in the first half, with Tyler Huntley likely playing the first quarter or first quarter and a half before giving way to Brett Hundley. The Titans have decided to rest Ryan Tannehill, which means Logan Woodside will play most of the first half before rookie Malik Willis takes over.

Once we get to the second half, I think the Titans will have a slight edge. Willis may be able to use his dual-threat ability to thrive against what could be a third-string defense. He may also have pass catchers such as Kyle Philips, Dez Fitzpatrick, Racey McMath and Chig Okonkwo.

I will be looking to take the Titans in the second half if they're plus money since I think they should be slight favorites. Be sure to follow me in the Action app to get notifications on any pregame/in-game bets I add.
