The Lions were third in offensive touchdowns last season with 52. Matching that offensive output is a tough ask, but it helps a ton that they were able to retain offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's services for at least one more season.
If the Lions finish in the top three in touchdowns again this year, it's possible those scores are primarily of the passing variety. Only 56% of their TDs came through the air last season — league average was 61%.
Jared Goff conceded a ton of goal-line opportunities to running back Jamaal Williams, who led the league with 17 rushing TDs. Williams, of course, is now out of the picture as a member of the Saints.
We could easily see that metric swing the other way this season and Goff could account for at least 65% of the Lions' touchdowns. If it happens, that would put him in the running for most passing TDs in the league.
I’m projecting this closer to 23/1 so I love the value we are getting here at DraftKings.
Mahomes, who is the clear favorite at +275, could be without Travis Kelce for a couple games. That might give Goff enough of an edge to sneak into the top spot in the end.
