NFL Player Props: Bet Kenneth Gainwell in Eagles vs. Buccaneers
Super Wild Card Weekend concludes in Raymond James Stadium, where the Philadelphia Eagles will meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Without question, the story heading into the game is how the Eagles will adjust without star wideout A.J. Brown (85.7 yards per game).
The trio of Julio Jones, Quez Watkins and Olamide Zaccheaus expect to see expanded roles in Brown's absence, but I see value in running back Kenneth Gainwell's props in the passing game.
Gainwell has seven targets over the last three weeks and even has three receptions in two of those games. Now, he will face a Tampa Bay defense allowing 5.9 catches to opposing pass-catching backs.
Since the bye week, Gainwell's 15.7 average routes ran outnumbers his counterpart D'Andre Swift's by 13.5, notably because of his involvement in long down distance situations (72%) and in the two-minute drill (82%) – where his yards after catch upside will be relied on in crucial situations to move the ball.
In what likely becomes a script in which the Eagles won't comfortably be able to establish the run, I can also see Tampa Bay's elevated blitz rate (40.1%) put Jalen Hurts in situations in which he must dump the ball to avoid the sack.
Action Network's model projects Gainwell will finish with 2.5 receptions, a nice 18.9% edge to go over his prop.
Pick: Kenneth Gainwell Over 1.5 Receptions |
