Detroit Lions | +600 | -1000 |
Houston Texans | +700 | -1200 |
The Detroit Lions and Houston Texans have the longest odds to make the playoffs at +600 and +700.
The Lions' win total at PointsBet for this season recently dropped from 5 (-120) to 4.5 (+120) — the second-lowest mark behind the Texans, whose win total is at 4 (o +100/u -120)
If you can still nab the Lions line at under 5 at -130 or better, I'd 100% take that bet. That line, in my estimation, has the highest value out of any preseason future on the table.
The Lions only have nine winnable-adjacent games this season — with four of those matchups coming against better teams while on the road. Eight other games are virtually guaranteed to be losses.
The remaining five games on the schedule see them hosting the Bengals, Eagles, Bears, Vikings and Cardinals. Even if they go 5-0 in all of those games, they'd need to pick up a massive upset elsewhere in order for the over to cover.
For what it's worth, I kind of like the value on the Panthers +260 to make the playoffs, too.
