More playing time for Colts quarterback Sam Ehlinger has thrust the University of Texas product into the Rookie of the Year mix.
Ehlinger's down from +8000 to +4000 at DraftKings after getting reps with the starters for the first time all training camp Tuesday.
Although second-year quarterback Jacob Eason will get the nod in preseason action Sunday versus the Panthers, Ehlinger earned more first-team reps for Thursday and Friday's joint practices.
Ehlinger, a sixth-round pick, also dropped from +300 to +200 to be Indy's Week 1 starter at the same book.
The Colts' situation under center's been murky since Carson Wentz opted for foot surgery on Aug. 2. He was initially ruled out 5-12 weeks.
Eason subsequently opened as the chalk to start Week 1 at -150, followed by Bears third-stringer Nick Foles (+250), former Packers quarterback and newcomer Brett Hundley (+400), and Wentz (+500).
Ehlinger was a 4-year contributor with the Longhorns. He totaled 94 touchdowns through the air, another 33 on the ground, and more than 12,500 yards from scrimmage over his tenure.
Indianapolis was listed as a 2.5-point favorite prior to Wentz injury for its Week 1 contest against the Seahawks. The Colts flipped to 2.5-point 'dogs, and have hit as high as +3 in the market.
