Last week, the Eagles were the chalk and cruised to a victory over the Jets. We did see roughly 20% of entries knocked out when the Chiefs were upset at home against the Colts. A few others were knocked out with the Bears and Chargers losing.
We still haven't seen the huge chunk of entrants knocked out with a big upset. I think that is due to the frequency of double-digit favorites every week.
Given the contrarian strategy that I like to implement, ideally we would have more entrants knocked out by now, but picks will be scarce in the upcoming weeks (most notably Week 9).
To help plan ahead, here are the projected win percentages for the rest of the season.
Week 6 NFL Survivor Pool Picks
And here are the top six options this week with the relevant statistics to know.
New England plays Thursday night against the Giants and is once again the most likely team to win this week. The Patriots are in play nearly every week, with seven more games with a projected win percentage of 70% or higher.
If you read the article last week, you know that I used the Patriots with the plan to use the Ravens this week.
Baltimore is the most popular pick right now, but it's not so high that I think you have to fade the Ravens. If the pick percentage was closer to 50%, I might alter my strategy.
The Pick: Baltimore Ravens
I'm using the Ravens in my pools this week. If you have already used both New England and Baltimore, the situation becomes a little dicey.
There are four teams that are right around the same projected winning percentage. The betting market likes the Chargers and Cowboys more than the model does.
The Chargers are my preferred choice out of these four teams due to their upcoming schedule and lack of options. Green Bay may be in play as a contrarian pick next week when the whole world takes Buffalo against Miami.
Use the percentages above to plan ahead. It's important to have a game plan for the upcoming weeks, even if it's not written in stone. Best of luck in Week 6 and hopefully you survive to Week 7.
