If you’ve been kickin’ it with Dr. Nick so far this 2022 NFL season, chances are it’s been going well.
We are 5-2 on the young season following a 3-1 showing in Week 2 and 2-1 effort in Week 1. Let’s keep things rolling with three more kicking picks for Week 3.
Justin Tucker
OVER 1.5 FG Made +100 (BetMGM)
Regarded as the best kicker in the NFL, Justin Tucker hasn’t had the most opportunities thus far in the 2022 season. He’s only attempted two field goals in two games, making both, while going 8-for-8 on extra-point attempts.
The Ravens have dropped 62 points this season, but expect some touchdown regression and more chances for Tucker as Baltimore faces a tough Patriots defense that has allowed the fourth fewest yards per game this year.
I project Tucker at 1.81 field goals made with a 54 percent chance of going over 1.5. I’d bet to -105.
Jason Sanders
OVER 2.5 Extra Points Made +155 (DraftKings/BetMGM)
Facing a banged up Bills secondary, the Dolphins have a good opportunity of moving the ball down field in Week 3. Also working in Sanders’ favor is the fact that Miami was three percent below league average in two-point conversion attempt rate last season and hasn’t attempted any in 2022.
I project Sanders for 2.42 extra-point attempts with a 41.1 percent chance of him going over 2.5. I would not bet any shorter than +155 in this spot.
Dustin Hopkins
UNDER 2.5 Extra Points Made -164 (Caesars)
With the increasing likelihood of Justin Herbert (rib cartilage fracture) sitting out Week 3 against the Jaguars, backup Chase Daniel is set to make his first start since the 2019 season. To say Daniel limits the Chargers’ offense would be an understatement.
Bad news for L.A., but good news for this Hopkins prop.
The Chargers are much more likely to go for two as an underdog, and have done so at a 19 percent clip – vs. 10.7 percent league average – since Brandon Staley took over as head coach in 2021.
I have the under hitting 66.5 percent of the time and I’d bet to -175.
Note: Even if Herbert plays, I’d still bet this as he won't be close to 100 percent.
