Before Monday Night Football earlier this week, I was looking for a creative way to invest in Jaleel McLaughlin's upside even more than I already had. I had taken his alt overs, as well as betting him to have the most rushing yards in the game, but then I noticed FanDuel's Triple Crown market, and pointed out in the Action Network Discord that Jameis Winston / Jerry Jeudy / Jaleel McLaughlin at 34-1 stood out to me.
Sure enough, it hit.
I'm going to take a stab with this market again here with the goal being to find one I like with Christian Watson leading the game in receiving yards. I gave out 80+ yards at +300 on Action Island, but I love his upside tonight to lead the game in receiving yards.
He gets a huge boost against man coverage, which the Lions use at the highest rate in the league, and while Jordan Love typically spreads it around, we could see a lot of his yardage go to Watson tonight.
While Watson leading the game in receiving yards does correlate with Love leading the game in passing yards, I think the scenario of Jared Goff/Watson being leaders here is more likely than these odds would suggest.
Goff is about 50/50 to have more yards than Love, but I think he might be the one who spreads it around more tonight, with Watson inheriting a higher percentage of the passing yards than normal.
Therefore I think it makes a ton of sense to go with the anti-correlation of Goff/Watson here.
Josh Jacobs is the clear favorite to lead the game in rushing yards, which I’m in line with. The Lions are dealing with multiple injuries that could allow Green Bay to lean on the run heavily — which it has done lately — more than most teams that face the Lions.
Plus, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery tend to limit each other's upside in a more 50/50-type committee.
I think we see this game stay close, which should allow Green Bay to lean on the run, keeping Love’s passing yardage down, Jacobs' rushing yardage high, while also forcing Goff into potentially more of a pass-heavy game script (given that the Lions typically blow teams out).
I think the chances of Goff/Watson/Jacobs taking this down should be probably closer to 25-1, which is why I think the 42-1 here is pretty sneaky. You can find the Triple Crown Market under the Popular dropdown on FanDuel. This pick will also be tracked in our Parlay Express account on the Action App.
