There are two games on Thursday's NFL preseason schedule, Detroit Lions vs. New York Giants and Carolina Panthers vs. New England Patriots, both kicking off at 7 p.m. ET.

Lions vs. Giants is the more likely of the two to see a significant impact from Tropical Storm Debby, though the latest Panthers vs. Patriots weather report isn't completely dry, either.

Continue reading to see the full Panthers vs. Patriots weather forecast and just how much rain is expected to fall at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.

How Rain is Impacting Panthers vs. Patriots Weather Report

The heaviest precipitation from Tropical Storm Debby isn't expected to reach Foxborough, Massachusetts, until Friday night, though light rain could be in the area 24 hours earlier.

The National Weather Service is calling for an 18% chance at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, which then bumps to 24% by midnight.

But even if tonight's Panthers vs. Patriots weather is wet, less than one-tenth of an inch of rain is in the latest forecast, so the effect will likely be minimal.

Additionally, sustained winds of just 3-6 mph are expected, which shouldn't be an issue for players, especially the offenses, on the field.

New England is currently a 6.5-point spread favorite – the largest favorite of the NFL preseason Week 1 slate – against Carolina with an over/under of 33.5 based on live NFL odds.

In addition, the Action Network's NFL public betting data is reporting that 56% of tickets are laying the points with the Patriots while 89% of bets on the total have come in on the over thus far.
