Eagles vs Ravens Predictions

Spread

This matchup should be great, a potential Super Bowl preview. Instead of picking a side, I'm going to sit back and watch these teams cook, specifically one playmaker on the Eagles side.

Player Prop

This is an elite matchup for A.J. Brown, who faces a Ravens defense that has been cooked by opposing WR1s so far this season. My best bet for this game is that we'll see a 100-yard game from the Eagles' WR1.

My Pick: A.J. Brown 100+ Receiving Yards (+130)

Over/Under

I'm passing on this game's total.

Eagles vs Ravens Preview, Prediction for Week 13

Man, this game looks awesome.

This could honestly be a Super Bowl preview — great offenses, elite coaching staffs, plenty of defense and MVP candidates galore. I don't want a side or a total on this one when I can just enjoy the game and learn.

All the talk heading into this game is on the two quarterbacks and the pair of elite RBs vying for Offensive Player of the Year, but it's A.J. Brown that has my attention.

The weakest single unit in this game — assuming Justin Tucker doesn't count — is probably Baltimore's pass defense, which continues to falter.

The Ravens rank dead last by DVOA against opposing WR1s and bottom three against the deep ball. Baltimore has allowed the second-most receptions, yards and touchdowns to opposing WRs.

It's bad, and it's been especially bad against opposing WR1s who are averaging 7.2 catches for 109 yards and 0.8 TDs on almost 10 targets a game. Whether it's Marlon Humphrey or rookie Nate Wiggins, opposing WR1s are simply eating this Baltimore secondary alive.

So, we want to bet A.J. Brown overs this week. If he stays healthy all game, Brown could be in for a monster outing. Of course, books have priced Brown at the top of the WR market with his receiving yards line, so the question now is how we play it.

At first glance, over 5.5 receptions looks tasty. WR1s who have faced the Ravens have hit the over 83% of the time this season.

But Brown isn't usually a receptions monster. He's had exactly five or six catches in all but one of his games this season, with five of them right at five — he tends to be more of a big-play guy. That line is also juiced heavily around -150 at many books. It's not the right way to play.

Yards are a better way to attack, even though the number has ticked up a bit already.

Brown's big-play ability on relatively limited receptions leave us an intriguing opportunity at a negatively correlated SGP.

What if Brown stays under the juiced 5.5 receptions line but still gets 80 yards? He's actually done that four times in eight games this season, and we can bet that at +836 at FanDuel.

You can find my full list of bets on Brown here, but my main pick is for a triple-digit receiving day.

My Pick: A.J. Brown 100+ Receiving Yards (+130)
