PrizePicks and Underdog — two of the most popular real-money gaming options available — graded all entries for the Bears vs. Texans preseason game on Thursday night as winners or losers while their sportsbook counterparts voided most entries.
Language stated across sportsbooks indicated that NFL games need 55 minutes of play to conclude in order to grade entries as winners or losers. Since the game was canceled near the end of the third quarter, all player props, spreads and moneyline entries at the major American sportsbooks were voided.
Those that were unequivocally determined — for instance, for the game to score more than 37.5 points — were graded because they had been decided by the time the game was canceled with a score of Bears 21, Texans 17.
At PrizePicks and Underdog, however, every more or less entry was graded as is, giving those on "less" a massive edge.
For instance, an entry on Jawhar Jordan at 30.5 yards was graded as less because he put up only five yards. But that's even though the game only played a total of just over 41 minutes.
Most player props, meanwhile, were voided at sportsbooks. Again, those that were already predetermined were graded as winners or losers.
For instance, entries on Texans wide receiver Cade Stover to record more than 17.5 receiving yards were still graded as winners because he registered 26 yards before play was suspended. All entries on him to record less than 17.5 receiving yards were correspondingly graded as losers.
