Ja'Marr Chase, Joe Mixon and Hunter Renfrow have the three most popular player prop picks for Saturday's kickoff to the postseason.
The Bengals have had a dream season in Joe Burrow's first full season as an NFL starter, and he's a legitimate dark horse candidate for the MVP, though "candidate" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.
Still, Burrow has looked exactly like the talent that prognosticators had predicted he would be when he was the No. 1 overall pick out of LSU in 2020.
Burrow and former college teammate Ja'Marr Chase have put together one of the most explosive passing attacks in the NFL just two years after the Bengals finished 2-14.
This team hasn’t been the most consistent — losses to the Bears and Jets have indicated as much — but they’ve peaked at the right time and come into the playoffs after having steamrolled their last three opponents, including the Chiefs.
(The Bengals rested most of their starters for Week 18.)
Cincinnati is hosting a home playoff game. That in and of itself has to be a success for those in southern Ohio and northern Kentucky.
Meanwhile, it's the first time the Raiders have made the playoffs since 2016. It took a last-second field goal in overtime for Las Vegas to sneak into the postseason, but they leapfrogged the Patriots and Steelers in the process.
Las Vegas is the second-worst team in the playoffs behind the Steelers, according to DVOA and EPA. This is, frankly, not a very good football team.
And yet, the public is riding with them.
About 91% of the money is on the Raiders to cover here.
The public is also riding these three player props.
Raiders vs. Bengals Most Popular NFL Player Props
- Ja'Marr Chase to score a touchdown at any time (-105)
- Joe Mixon to score a touchdown at any time (-150)
- Hunter Renfrow to score a touchdown at any time (+140)
Chase scored a touchdown in nine out of his 16 games with Joe Burrow at quarterback during the regular season. That implies the odds for this prop should be closer to -130.
Generally, I'd avoid touchdown props with wide receivers and tight ends. They're too variable for my liking and tend to have negative expected value. But, this one has a slight edge. Bet it if you're feeling the action.
Overall, for Saturday's slate, go with Mixon's prop at -150. His prop should be priced somewhere closer to -220.
With how middling the Raiders defense is, I think either prop is a fair enough bet.
Renfrow, meanwhile, scored a touchdown in eight of his 17 regular season games, including his last three.
While that implies odds of closer to +115, there's not enough value here to justify a bet.
Pick: Joe Mixon to score a TD any time (-150)
