It's feared that Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell broke his thumb, according to NFL Insider, Ian Rapoport and will not return against the Rams.
While attempting a pass late in the first quarter, O’Connell’s hand smacked into a Rams defender, Kam Curl, attempting to swat the ball.
#Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell is believed to have suffered a broken thumb based on preliminary tests, sources say.
He’ll have further evaluation tomorrow to determine the extent of the injury. Frustrating, considering he had just taken the starting job. pic.twitter.com/B0gs5olKuQ

O’Connell headed to the locker room to be tended to. The 2023 fourth-rounder was making his second start of the season. Raiders coach Antonio Pierce told the CBS broadcast team that it “doesn’t look like he’ll be back.” O'Connell returned to the sidelines, but the broadcast showed his right thumb heavily taped.
Gardner Minshew, who started Vegas’ first five games before getting benched for O’Connell, took over under center.
At kickoff, the Raiders were seven-point road underdogs (-105) at BetMGM Sportsbook. Almost midway through the second quarter, up 3-0, the Raiders were listed live as 2.5-point underdogs (+100) at BetMGM.
