Check out my two favorite PrizePicks plays for NFC West rivalry game between the Rams and 49ers.
Brandon Aiyuk
Over/Under 49.5 Receiving Yards
I don’t want to give Brandon Aiyuk that much love. He’s failed to eclipse 50 receiving yards in two of his three games and managed just 63 in the one he went over. That was against Seattle’s horrific pass defense, too.
The Rams are going to be a much tougher test. Remember, they still have Jalen Ramsey on the outside.
In fact, the Rams have held 9-of-16 pass catchers with receiving yards lines set against them under their total. This defense still has juice despite early struggles.
The 49ers are going to continue to run the ball no matter what. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is committed to the ground game with his wide zone scheme and will probably have success doing so. I also don’t trust San Francisco’s passing offense with Jimmy Garoppolo under center.
The Action Labs Player Props Tool projects Aiyuk for just 44 receiving yards, while Stokastic’s Player Props Tool has him at 46.
There’s value on the under either way.
Pick: Under 49.5 receiving yards.
Cam Akers
Over/Under 6.5 Receiving Yards
Where has Cam Akers been?
Akers has been non-existent in this early stretch, managing just 120 scrimmage yards through his first three games. Many were high on his production potential entering the season, but it’s clear they were wrong.
Akers has a hearty three targets this season, with all of them coming against Atlanta’s below-average defense.
The 49ers have the fifth-best pass defense DVOA against running backs this season and were fourth in 2021. They’ve allowed fewer than 35 pass yards per game to halfbacks over the past two seasons.
Akers is not the top option out of the backfield for Matthew Stafford and he won’t get any more looks in this game than usual.
The Action Network’s Player Props Tool projects Akers for 4.4 receiving yards while Stokastic’s Player Props Tool projects him for 6.0.
I’ll happily fade him in this matchup.
Pick: Under 6.5 receiving yards.
