Spread: Lions -3 | Total: 50.5
Los Angeles Rams
You often hear about how teams want to be playing their best football in January, and that’s certainly the case for the Rams.
Los Angeles went into its Week 10 bye coming off a loss in Green Bay without Matthew Stafford at 3-6. Since then, the Rams have won six of their last seven and entered Week 18 assured of a playoff spot.
The Rams’ defense has been solid, fielding a serviceable unit around Aaron Donald, but it’s the offense that has developed two new potential stars in RB Kyren Williams and WR Puka Nacua. Cooper Kupp hasn’t reached the numbers he had in 2021, but he’s still around and gives Stafford another key weapon in the passing game.
The Rams entered Week 18 at 9-6-1 against the spread (4-3-1 on the road, which is relevant for this game) and 8-8 to the over.

Detroit Lions
It seems like the Lions are everybody’s second-favorite team this season, especially bettors. It’s tough to dislike head coach Dan Campbell, whose case is helped by Detroit’s 11-5 record against the spread (ATS) entering Week 18. Surprisingly, the Lions are 4-3 ATS at home but 7-2 on the road.
Detroit ran away with the NFC North this season and could have entered Week 18 with a chance at the No. 1 seed in the conference if it wasn’t a controversial call at the end of its loss to the Cowboys. Still, the Lions will be at home on Wild Card Weekend after their first division title in 30 years.
The Lions’ +56 point differential entering Week 18 was third in the NFC but nowhere near the Cowboys (+166) or 49ers (+194). It was only 31 points better than the second-place Packers in the NFC North.
What the Lions have done well this season since their Week 1 win over the Chiefs is beat teams that they’re supposed to beat. The Lions have lost to the Seahawks, Ravens, Packers, Bears and Cowboys, but they haven’t beat a team that entered Week 18 over .500 since that win over Kansas City.
