How Tampa Bay Reached the Divisional Round
- Wild Card Round: Beat Washington, 31-23
- Regular-Season Record: 11-5
Tommy Stokke: In case you missed it, Tom Brady is on the Bucs.
He brought Rob Gronkowski and, eventually, Antonio Brown with him. And with Brady comes postseason play.
The experiment with Brady has mostly worked, although there have been enough iffy moments for Monday-morning talk shows to propose a loser-leaves-town cage match between Brady and head coach Bruce Arians.
Still, Tampa Bay throws the ball more often than all but two teams in the NFL, so a playoff run rests on Brady’s right arm. If the Bucs’ defense can stay stingy — it ranks seventh in points allowed — the 43-year-old’s job gets a little easier.
How New Orleans Reached the Divisional Round
- Wild Card Round: Bye
- Regular-Season Record: 13-3
Stokke: How did they get here?
Drew Brees looks every bit his age. Taysom Hill started four games. Michael Thomas has 109 fewer catches than a season ago.
Still, the Saints carried on in 2020 with another NFC South title and home playoff game. Make that four years in a row with those feats for Brees, Sean Payton and Co.
