The San Francisco 49ers (1-0) and Minnesota Vikings (1-0) are set to square off in the early slate on Sunday of NFL Week 2. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on CBS, and the game can be streamed live on Paramount+.

The 49ers are consensus 4.5-point favorites as of early Sunday morning, after San Francisco had been favored by as many as 6 points over the Vikings earlier in the weekend. The over/under for the game is 46.5, with the Niners -220 favorites on the moneyline and the Vikings +180 underdogs to win outright.

Even without Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers thrived in Week 1 in a 32-19 win over the Jets behind Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel and new hero Jordan Mason. The Vikings, meanwhile, were impressive in a 28-6 win over the lowly Giants. Sam Darnold showed off an impressive connection with star receiver Justin Jefferson.

Let's get into my 49ers vs. Vikings prediction and my NFL picks and predictions for Week 2 on Sunday.

49ers vs. Vikings NFL Week 2 Preview, Picks

This 49ers team just seems like it’s humming. After watching the win over the Jets last Monday night back, I don’t think San Francisco played the cleanest game. I don’t think the Niners were as good as people seem to think they were. The offense was forced to kick so many field goals and just wasn’t in a great rhythm.

That’s just how dominant this 49ers team is, though. San Francisco didn’t even have to break a sweat to comfortably handle the Jets.

The professional side of betting here thinks the 49ers’ lack of full dominance against the Jets does matter, though, and it also thinks there’s something to traveling across two time zones on a short week.

On the other side, professionals were also high on the Vikings coming into the season. They were rewarded with a blowout Week 1 win, but there’s some important context to consider with that.

People are overreacting to the Vikings easily dispatching the lowly Giants. When you really break it down, Sam Darnold played one good half and scored 21 points against one of the worst teams in the NFL. From there, Minnesota was able to coast.

Even without Christian McCaffrey, we’d expect the 49ers to score at least 28 points against this Vikings defense. On the other side, if Darnold can lead the Vikings to more than 24, that’s be a really good day for that offense.

Best Bet for 49ers vs. Vikings

I think we’re getting really good value here. I make this spread seven points, so the fact that we’re getting five is great.

I’m happy to bet the 49ers here, and I’m ecstatic that we get to do it below the key number of six.

Vikings vs. 49ers Pick: 49ers to cover the spread (Bet to -5.5)
