Saquon Barkley has been ruled out for three weeks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, after suffering an ankle sprain vs. the ArizonaCardinals on Sunday.
The spread moved from its mark of roughly San Francisco 49ers -10 on Monday morning to a market consensus of -10.5 after confirmation of Barkley's absence.
The line had hovered at about 49ers -9.5 prior to Week 2. The -10 line this morning all but baked in the very real possibility that Barkley would miss time after being ruled doubtful on Sunday night.
For what it's worth, the Action Network's Sean Koerner said his absence doesn't have much impact on the spread.
The replacement for Barkley during the New York Giants' difficult three-game stretch against the 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins will be running back Matt Brieda, who backed up Barkley last year, too.
At FanDuel, the Giants became a longer +9000 underdog to win the Super Bowl, down from its previous mark of +8000 earlier in the day. New York also became a longer underdog to make the playoffs, with the "Yes" option shifting from +320 to +345 in that marketplace.
The Giants remain +2300 underdogs to win the NFC East. The Cowboys (+105) and Eagles (+105) are two of the top three favorites in the conference. In fact, all of the advanced metrics have the Cowboys as the best team in the NFL through two weeks.
