Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals Preview, Predictions, Futures
I’m about to throw a lot at you here, but the gist is I’m buying the Cardinals. I think they’re the better team and thus, I have a variety of ways I’m looking to bet on them.
While the Seahawks haven’t impressed of late, the Cardinals are fifth in DVOA over their last six games, including a top-five rating on both sides of the ball. The defense has surged from 26th to 12th overall over the last three weeks, and is now a top-five unit against the pass.
I’m heavily invested in Seattle. I have multiple units on its win total, division and playoff futures. I still like them, but a loss here and the Cardinals move into first place in the NFC West, with the Seahawks registering what would be their third divisional loss of the season.
It’s important not to be stubborn as a bettor, and it’s also worth noting that I’m very happy with my position. I have two units on the Seahawks Over 7.5 wins, which is looking good right now for the stretch run of the season.
Again, I simply think the Cardinals are better.
I’ll lay out the types of bets I’m most interested in below.
1. Cardinals 1Q & Full Game Moneylines
The Cardinals have the top-rated first-quarter offense in the NFL, while the Seahawks are dead last. Also, the Cardinals defense is better at home (sixth at home, 16th on the road).
I bet Arizona to lead after the first quarter and win the game, a parlay that gets me to +180 at most sportsbooks.
2. Cardinals Futures
If the Cardinals win, chances are they’ll be tied with the Seahawks at 7-6 and one game ahead of the Rams, assuming L.A. loses at home to the Bills.
If that’s the case, Arizona will finish the season against the Patriots, at the Panthers and Rams, then home against a 49ers team that might have given up by Week 18.
You can get Arizona at +5000 to win the NFC at BetMGM, a number that will be gone after this weekend if it wins. I’d also recommend betting the Cardinals to win the NFC West at +180.
Think of these futures as a bet on Arizona to win this weekend, but at a better number.
3. Kyler Murray to Win Comeback Player of the Year
Kyler Murray missed the final eight games of last season with a torn ACL and has looked good in his return this season. Winning the NFC West would give him a very strong case for this award.
Joe Burrow is -210 and has put up great numbers all season, but the Bengals are 4-8 and seem unlikely to bounce back and make the playoffs.
Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers are unlikely to win, while Russell Wilson and Sam Darnold weren’t injured. They simply weren’t good last year.
It’s important to note that 15 of the last 16 Comeback Player of the Year Award winners have played for a team that has won nine games and made the playoffs. A win here puts the Cardinals on a path toward meeting that criteria.
My Picks:
- Cardinals to lead after 1st quarter & win game (+180; bet365)
- Future: Cardinals to win the NFC (+5000; BetMGM)
- Future: Cardinals to win NFC West (+180)
- Future: Kyler Murray Comeback Player of the Year (+900; FanDuel)
